HUG BACK PACK
A concept made in the course Digital Craftmanship. This project was an exploration of a bag which creates the effect of a hug by embracing your body in different ways. It adds weight, heat and a breathing effect on the back. It also includes a box to carry sentimental items with you. In addition, the patterns on the device represent the dualism of the hugs needed and the hugs gotten and they are created using AI prompts, and modified using Twitter data.
This course opened my eyes to the possibilities of making and how different methodologies and programs can be used together. For this course, I asked AI chatbots to give me ideas for patterns, using extensive prompts.
The shapes were distorted using a personal huging diary and python scraping posts containing the world hug from Twitter. And these were visualised and modified in Processing, printed using Blender modifiers, and made into a pattern using a heat transfer press.

The concept
A bag which creates the effect of a hug by embracing your body in differnt ways. It adds weight, heat and a breathing effect on the back. Also includes a box to carry sentimental items with you.
Hugging a person creates release oxytocin, a hormone that relaxes us and lowers anxiety. This bag could produce a similar effect, helping feel better the person wearing it.
Embodyment prototyping
Started with testing ourselves with clothing and decided on 4 arms
Adding the use of inflatables to create a breathing effect behind the back.

Personal hug diaries of each of the components of the team based on times a hug was needed and hug points awarded by amount of hugs and the lengthy of them

Recollection of 1000 tweets thanks to a program including it’s date and text by filtering the word hug on them
Pattern Design
PROMT:
I have this script o p5js that draws a shape and an ellipse inside. I want to modify the position of the shape, right now its really organized. To do this, I want to use a csv dataset called allhugs, that contains two colums called totalhugs and hugsneeded, these columns contain 14 rows which are two weeks of data. I want you to create a script that scatters these shapes covering the canvas using the dataset. In addition, I want you to modify the width and height of the ellipse in the shape using a different dataset called Twitter_data_with_sentiment3, this contains a column named sentiment, containing lots of rows. These rows contain values from -1 to 1 depending on the sentimental value.
