ACCUM
ACCUM is a wearable concept set in a dystopian future following a nuclear conflict, where isolated communities survive in underground bunkers governed by technical merit rather than democratic consensus.
From Research Map to Concept
I built this project through a research map, mapping context, emerging technologies, ethics, visual references, and existing wearables before defining the product. This method let the concept grow from a coherent fictional world instead of a single isolated idea.
Prototyping Through Additive Manufacturing
I used additive manufacturing to build both the concept and the working prototype, from the flexible casing to testing how the fiber optic elements integrate with the textile structure on the body.
The Concept
ACCUM is a textile bracelet that measures and communicates a person’s accumulated radiation exposure in real time. Optical fibers running through the band shift in light and color as exposure rises, turning an invisible risk into a visible signal on the body, both for the wearer and for the community around them.
